...Automated and Scalable
In March 2007, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced that all government Windows XP and Vista computers, including those of contractors, must comply with Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) guidelines by Feb. 1, 2008. These FDCC security configurations were developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Department of Defense (DoD), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in an effort to standardise federal IT security policies and minimise the chances of government computers being compromised and exploited.
The FDCC security guidelines include over 300 settings that must be enforced on Windows XP and Vista clients. These apply to all government computers, including those that are owned or used by contractors on behalf of the U.S. government. The Feb. 1, 2008 deadline has come and gone but many government agencies are still struggling to implement this FDCC mandate. Manually achieving this goal is nearly impossible and for most, simply not an option. Clearly an efficient automated way of accomplishing this is paramount.
That's where LANrev comes in. Its SCAP-capable (Security Content Automation Protocol) compliance reports scan your Windows clients to verify that they comply with FDCC guidelines. You can decide to scan for all or selectively only some of the security objects. LANrev provides a list of compliant and noncompliant clients. You can also build custom reports for clients whose overall score fall below a certain threshold or even for clients whose scores for an individual security item is below a certain number. LANrev facilitates the audit of your client workstations for FDCC compliance enabling greater productivity and cost savings for your IT department.
